Coming soon to a corner near you? chew ON this A new weapon against the stains on our streets
Discarded chewing gum has become such a singular
problem in cities around the world that a Toronto company has
developed a gum-specific trash bin to fight the scourge.
The Envyrobubble, the rainbow-coloured, lollipop-shaped object
seen here, is still in the marketing stage but is going to get a
trial run at the corner of Church and Wellesley as soon as the
company gets around to installing them.
The Church-Wellesley Village Business Improvement Area approved
installation of four of the four-foot-high refuse cans - one on
each corner of the intersection - at its monthly meeting in early
October.
Loredana Oliveti, the founder and president of Envyrobubble, was
in Vancouver this week at a waste-management trade show. She said
she and her co-founder, Ornella DeCola, who worked together in
the advertising business before launching their company about a
year ago, noticed that gum litter "seems to be a problem
everywhere but there doesn't seem to be a solution.
